3 – Professional Development Materials

September 2013 – January 2014. Use the products from Parts 1 and 2 of the project to create professional development materials to support teachers’ use of the DLLP for the purposes of instruction and formative assessment.


February 2014 – August 2014. Conduct a pilot professional development session using the new professional development materials. We will also conduct focus groups to get feedback on the pilot professional development and revise materials as needed.


September 2014 – June 2015. Prepare professional development modules and supporting materials with input from WIDA PD specialists.


January 2016 – June 2016. Conduct a pilot implementation study of the DLLPs in K-5 classrooms in three central California public schools. Teachers will begin the study by participating in a professional learning day about the DLLPs and formative assessment. Monthly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) will assist teachers as they support their students’ language development in the content areas through the use of DLLPs and formative assessment.
